What Are Volunteer Medical Responders?

St. John Ambulance Volunteer Medical Responders are a group of uniformed individuals, trained to a minimum of Standard First Aid, who volunteer their time to provide First Aid services at a wide variety of public events (sporting, cultural, musical, etc). Many of our volunteers have achieved even higher skill levels through Medical First Responder (MFR), Automated External Defibrulation (AED) and Oxygen Administration (O2).

Without the assistance of our Volunteer Medical Responder, many community-based organizations would not be able to offer First Aid coverage at public events. The cost of hiring individuals or groups to provide on-site First Aid coverage would, after all, be prohibitive for many smaller organizations in our province of Nova Scotia.
